SOUTH PARK

SAN FRANCISCO CA

LOCATED ON ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING STREETS IN SAN FRANCISCO, THIS PROJECT IS SCHEDULED FOR CONSTRUCTION THIS SUMMER. SOUTH PARK HAS A LINEAR BLOCK-LONG PARK DIVIDING THE STREET AND PROVIDING OPEN SPACE FOR RESIDENTS TO ENJOY.

THIS PROJECT, WHICH FACES THE PARK, IS A 1200 SQUARE FOOT COMPLETE REDOING OF THE MIDDLE UNIT OF A THREE-UNIT CONDOMINIUM BUILDING. ALTHOUGH THE EXTERIOR HAD TO PRESERVE THE EXISTING WOODEN WINDOW PATTERN, THE REST OF THE PROJECT IS AN ENTIRE REWORKING OF THE INTERIOR. AS IN MOST VICTORIAN BUILDINGS, THE SPACES ARE LONG AND NARROW WITH LITTLE LIGHT PENETRATING THE INTERIOR.

BY EXPANDING THE OPENINGS OF THE SMALL WINDOWS IN THE CENTRAL SPACE, LARGER TRANSLUCENT WINDOWS WILL DISTRIBUTE DIFFUSED LIGHT FROM THE SPACES BETWEEN THE ADJACENT BUILDINGS. THE ENTIRE SPACE HAS BEEN CLEARED TO THE EXISTING FRAMING AND THE INTERIOR SPACES HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED TO CREATE A NEW TWO-BEDROOM, TWO-BATH LIVING UNIT.
